Professional Web Development, Personal Service.
I'm often asked what I do. Since my first web design job more than seven years ago, I've done a little bit of everything. When I first started, like every other hot-headed college grad, I wanted to use the skills I had learned in college and be paid well for them. But the real world of business doesn't work like that.
In that time, I've done almost every activity a technical person might be called on to do - and a great deal of things that go far beyond. Databases, legacy systems, hardware, firmware, micro-controllers, systems coding, scripting, project design, graphical design, management, content creation, press relations, marketing, advertising and planning are only the tip of the iceberg.
But let's cut to the chase. I can spend forever bragging about my skills (and what else is a resume for?) and selling myself with every formula in the book.
I'm not going to do it.
You're here because you have a project you want done well, or a position you want filled with a capable person. All of the structures we've made to try to facilitate this only work so well.
What I've said above is true: I have done all of those things, and more. But you probably don't care. It's hard to blame you - wading through a series of listed skills wondering if the person has any more than a passing familiarity with them is sleep-inducing. (Or 'soporific' for the OED readers.)
So here's what I propose.
Since I don't fit into any of the neat boxes we've been provided with (I work mainly with small businesses on a variety of tasks) I say we make it personal. Tell me what it is you need - and I will tell you if I can do it. I might hire someone to do parts that I am lacking in - but I will give you an honest assessment.
My going rate is 50$/hr, but initial consultations are free. Unlike some firms, I do not make money making recommendations that I don't have to fulfill.
And yes, I'm one person. Not a figurehead for a company. If you have a web job, that is, you want a site of any complexity: I will tell you what it will take to get it done.
If you're looking for a dedicated web professional, and 'professional' in the sense of a man of his word who stands by his work and the quality thereof, you've come to the right place.

PS-
In case you had wondered, I have provided all of the 'traditional' credentials I have available. I've done HR and I know it helps to have resumes and work examples for the purpose of comparison and organization, if for no other reason.
